Paleontology, University of Zürich

Research at the Palaeontological Institute and Museum of the University of Zurich focuses on the palaeobiology of marine environments of the Middle Triassic, some 230 to 240 million years ago. Palaeoecology, taphonomy and biostratigraphy are the main fields of study, but work is also carried out on the morphology and systematics of marine reptiles, fish, bivalves and ammonoids. Fieldwork and excavations are currently being conducted in fossiliferous beds in the Ducan Mountains near Davos (Canton of the Grisons), at Monte San Giorgio (Canton of Ticino), and in the Lombardy Alps and the Dolomites (Italy).

Geosciences, Université de Fribourg
Detailed facies analysis, high-resolution sequence- and cyclostratigraphic correlations, and palaeoecological studies lead to a realistic understanding of ancient depositional environments. We also work on Cretaceous to Recent planktonic and benthic foraminifera, their biostratigraphy and their response to local and global environmental changes.
